The CS5 is the compact, high-efficiency counterpart to the CS7 - a 5kW inset cassette stove with an 82.2% efficiency rating that makes it one of the more capable performers in its category. Where the CS7 prioritises output, the CS5 prioritises efficiency and fit: at 400mm wide and 542mm tall, it's designed to slot into a standard UK fireplace opening without modification, and its 2–5kW operating range makes it well matched to smaller and medium-sized rooms where the CS7's 7kW would be too much.

The steel body with fire-brick lining gives it the heat retention characteristics of a heavier stove in a lighter, more installation-friendly package - 60kg, top or rear flue outlet, and a 12mm non-combustible hearth requirement that keeps the installation requirements as undemanding as possible. The multi-fuel grate handles both wood logs and approved smokeless coal, ash falls cleanly into a removable ash pan, and the large ceramic glass window paired with the airwash system keeps the flame view clear throughout the burn. Optional Direct Air compatibility makes it suitable for modern airtight builds where external combustion air is needed or preferred.

At 220mm the maximum log length is shorter than the CS7's generous 380mm, which is worth noting for anyone planning to use it with longer unsplit logs - but for a stove of this output and format it's a practical rather than significant constraint.
