For those who heat with wood exclusively and want a stove optimised for it rather than one that accommodates wood alongside other fuels, this is the more focused choice.

Everything that defines the ST-X Wide Tall format applies here - the broad, landscape-format viewing window that gives an unusually wide flame display for a 5kW stove, the steel body with cast iron door and fire-brick lining, the afterburner clean-burn system that re-ignites unburned gases for improved efficiency and lower emissions, and the rear heat shield that brings wall clearance down to 250mm. At 285mm deep despite its 824mm height, it fits into shallower fireplace openings that would rule out deeper stoves at the same output - a practical advantage in older properties and cottage-style fireplace openings where depth is the constraint rather than width.
